Lotfi MELLOULI, is an Ing., Ph.D., Professor in Biotechnology. Graduate with a degree in biotechnology engineering in 1986 (ENIS). 1987-1991: Senior engineer in the Tunisian Sugar Complex of Jandouba-Tunisia. 1992: Senior engineer at the Centre of Biotechnology of Sfax (CBS). 1996: PhD thesis (ENIS). 1998: Assistant professor at the CBS. 2004: University Habilitation (ENIS). 2005: Associate professor at the CBS. Since January 2011: Professor at the CBS. May 2015- March 2020: Director of the Laboratory of Microorganisms and Biomolecules of the CBS. Since Avril 2020: Professor-researcher at the CBS. Research Interests: *Development, from natural sources (microorganisms, plants and agro industrial residues) of new bioactive products having interesting biological activities which can be used in pharmaceutical, agriculture and food and beverage safety and bio-preservation. *Engineering of biosynthetic pathways of active secondary metabolites. *Development of novel drug targets against pathogenic microorganisms. Lotfi Mellouli, is an author of 110 international scientific publications with IF. Inventor of 19 National Patents. Principal investigator of several research cooperation projects. Supervision of 11 PhD students and several Master students and final year engineering projects. Teaching courses for engineering and master’s students: Extraction purification and characterization of active molecules. Microbiology and genetic of antibiotics. Organization and duplication of the genetic information. Biotechnology of yeast. Techniques and tools of molecular biology. Biochemical and genetics of active secondary metabolites, etc.
